ABOUT BAUER ELECTRONICS

Bauer Electronics was established in Eden Prairie, Minnesota in 1971, by it's founder Patrick Bauer. Pat's background was in electronics, television and radio repair. He was asked by a friend if he could build a wire harness for his 1940 Ford Coupe. A Ford parts store, Little Deerborn Parts, saw Pat's work and asked him if he would build an exact reproduction of that wire harness.

Pat began the process of purchasing a braiding machine, finding terminal and thread suppliers, many that are still used today, and building a lacquer tower to coat the wire. From the start,  exact authenticity was the goal. From the color and material of the braiding, to the shape and construction of the terminals. Each harness is based off an intact original harness from a vehicle.

Over the next 20 years, the company acquired more machinery to include multiple braiders, terminating presses, an automated cutter and injection molding machines. With the addition of injection molding machines, Bauer Electronics now has the capacity to reproduce Ford harnesses from 1956 to 1969.

In 1993 the company relocated to Bend, Oregon, with Pat, longtime employee Chris Olsen and one other employee. Among the first employees hired were Russell Legg and Mari Hoffman. Russell is now the production manager and Mari is the office manager.

The next phase of the company began in April 2000, when Pat sold the business to Chris Olsen. Chris has continued Pat's vision of producing exact reproduction harnesses with "Made In America" quality, reliability, and experienced customer service.
